In Italy we have a new law (see ...), but we need to do much more to
reach a correct approach to the theme of the search of origins: all
the process in Italy is under adoptive parents' and Juvenile Court's
control. And it is not what we need.
Our law on adoption was
recently modified, on 2001 introducing Hague Conventions principles.
So now adoptive parents must inform their children about their
"condition", and adoptees may have information about their records,
but with these reserves: they have to be older than 25 for having
access to their records, and have anyway to get the permission by
the "juvenile court" judge. All the same they may have access to
their records even when 18 years old, or may have their parents for
them, when they are younger, in presence of psychological or health
problems. Access is forbidden for adults not recognized by one of
birthparents.
Please support our campaign to change the
knowledge and reach a complete understanding of the real needs of
adoptees!! We all belong to the same family of adoption, that is an
open wide world family. If you want e-mail us your experiences,
opinions, you'll be welcome. We will attach them
here. |
